1. What This Reference Is
The Placer County Residents Directory is a privately operated reference describing and linking to public rolls, record indexes, and historical collections concerning people who live or have lived in Placer County, California. It does not host government records and has no affiliation with a public office, court, library, archive, or records custodian.
2. Acceptable Use
Use the reference only for lawful purposes. You may not use it, or information reached through it, to:
- Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm another person.
- Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order.
- Commit fraud or identity theft.
- Make an FCRA-regulated decision involving credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or another covered purpose.
- Scrape, reproduce, or republish pages at scale.
- Disrupt the operation or security of the reference.
3. No Consumer Reporting Agency
This reference is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. §1681 et seq. Neither the pages nor the output of a linked search tool is a consumer report. None of that material may be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose regulated by the FCRA.
4. Linked Services
County, California, federal, library, archive, court, and other linked services have their own rules. Sponsored search tools also set their own terms. The operators are not responsible for another service's content, availability, pricing, privacy practices, or data.
5. No Promise of Accuracy
The reference is supplied “as is” and “as available.” No warranty is made that a statement is complete, current, or correct, or that an outside portal will remain available or return a particular result. The relevant custodian should be asked to verify important facts.
6. Liability Limits
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from use of these pages or a linked resource, including a decision made from a record located through them.
7. Indemnity
You agree to defend and hold the operators harmless from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, that arises from misuse of the reference or violation of these terms.
8. Copyright and Layout
The original writing, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a short excerpt with attribution are welcome. Publishing complete pages or systematically copying the content is not permitted.
9. Changes to These Terms
The operators may revise these terms by posting a replacement version. Continued use after the new version appears constitutes acceptance of the change.
10. Suspension of Access
Access may be blocked or restricted, without advance notice, for a user who violates these terms or abuses the reference.
11. Governing Law
California law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. California's Public Records Act, recodified at Government Code §§7920.000–7931.000, governs the public-record request routes described in the reference; it does not make every record disclosable or require a custodian to create a new list.
12. Severability
If a court finds one part of these terms unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
13. Questions
